Re: 02 sensor.

The easiest thing to do is pick up an O2 sensor socket while you are at the parts store. It tends to make life really easy. Then it's basically like taking any other bolt out. I did my front one in about 15 minutes, with no problems. I wouldn't pay $600 for them to do it, that's just crazy!

600 is outrageous.

Go to www.Oxygensensors.com and check them out there. They sell O2 sensors cheaper then anyone I have found. At least for every car I have worked on they are way cheaper then a parts store. And they usually ship out same day. They have awesome service there.

Dont forget when you change them yourself get some type of penetrating fluid becuase the sensor might be alittle tricky to get out. and alittle anti-sieze compound when you install the new ones wont hurt either. Good luck.

Yes, very true.

I got mine from a part store for $200 for a pair, then installed them $0.

On that site you can get both your sensors for 100 to 140 for both. And install yourself very easily. (If there is a such thing as easy on a DSM. On my car everything "easy" always seem to turn into a project. LoL Gotta love those DSM's

wait what if the 02 sensor snaps. jake said the main problem is it snapping inside. so what would be good to use maybe heat up the exhaust pipe around the sensor so that expands but it stays small and it will come out easier?

Re: 02 sensor.

I spend the 90 bucks at the dealer for the front sensor. That way I know it will plug in (most generics have to be wired) and I wont have to worry as much about seeing a noticeable shift in trims. Never had to replace the rear, but I imagine it is the same price. 180 is more than you would pay at a parts strore, but still much less than 600 WTF, thats insane. I'm in the wrong business. If I knew I could get 600 bucks for 180 in parts and 15 minutes of my time, I have started a business changing just O2 sensors. Shit, 2 a week would be a nice living.
