1998 Camry 100,000 Mile Maintenance

Hello:I recently purchased a 1998 camry LE that has nearly 100,000 miles on it.
I do not have any of the previous records of maintenance that has been done to this car.
I was told that it would be a good idea to replace the timing belt and water pump and any seals that are on that side of the engine.
This car runs great,but I want to make sure it is safe for my wife.She drives alot of miles on the highway.
Any input on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

I recommend replacing the timing belt and water pump for sure. It is scheduled maintenance between 60-90k. As for the seals, you can replace the crankshaft and camshaft seals if you want to while you're in there. (probably a good idea, it doesn't cost that much.)
Be sure you know where the timing marks are at when you pull the timing belt off, maybe get you one of those Haynes Manuals for the car. Other than that, that's about all on that side of the engine.

Is this a pretty tough job to do?
I have worked on my cars in the past and I used to be a mechanic at a motorcycle repair shop.
I would like to do it myself.
How tough is it to replace the crank seal and camshaft seals?

Ask previous owner. If it's local the Toyota service dudes can run a VIN check to see if any work has been done on it by Toyota.
