Re: I own a 240
awesome to hear you got one!! good luck with it, and also just some advice, dont make a bunch of KA-T vs SR threads, or ask common questions about the SR or you will get bitched out..the FAQ are really helpful, good luck with your car!!

heres a quick summary.
if you're going stritcly for drifting get: SR20 LSD SUSPENSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! although you might not be able to pull all that off with $4k. depends on how much the SR will run ya. just search through the threads, everybody and they mama has asked almost the same question.

Re: I own a 240
if you want to drift first get suspension mods. Coilovers, rear upper control arms, strut tower bars, sway bars, tie rods, tension control rods

id actually go with
LSD Coilovers R.U.C.A.'s Subframe spacers Aluminum Strut Tower Bars and some falkens or some shit for the stock wheels that would be a great begininer's drift setup, shit i've seen a video of a completely stock 240sx drifting better then all the other cars at the event that were modded... it all really comes down to drivers skill and a good suspension setup with low power will give the beginer the most confidence(what u want) when you save up some more money go with a 300zx 30mm iron caliper brake swap at all 4 corners, with z32 Master Cylinder and porportioning valve of course with some aftermarket pads of your choice. Swap over to 5 lugs and buy some decent wide wheels, atleast 8 inches wide, 8.5 or 9 inches wide would be optimum... you can run a 275 45 17 on a 17*8.5 inch rim very easily and thats enough tire for any 240sx. THEN think about adding some power when you get real good and the rest of the shit is up to par. Just putting in a sr20det and some coilovers with everything else stock and your 4k spent is going to make a pretty shitty drift car compared to the other choice. Plus the sr20 will take a lot of money to maintain thereby hindering your saving abilities to buy other parts down the road, unless u make like a grand a week. if there is atleast one lesson to be learned from this thread its that brakes are way more important then power, especially when you have a lot of power, so get those first,,, and a good suspension setup makes the car easier to drift no matter what your power is, and finally a good driver can drift about any damn thing. |

Re: I own a 240
I think an exhaust and intake setup will be fine for power. Definately do some good oil and keep up with matinence. Other than that, sink your money into the suspension. The KA will spin your tires just as well as the SR will if you know how to use physics. I had the rearend facing forward a few times while I was stock. Its a good thing I didn't have the KA-T at the time too. Strut bars and sways would even be a good start. More important than any mod is going to be practice and finding a place to do it. Good luck.

Re: I own a 240
Well I dunno about all these other parts but I know that to Drift you need -
18x9 +0 F w/205s 18x10 -12R w/225s (Prefferably the Do-Luck Spinnaz) + Coilovers with Collars Removed for lower stance + Bososuko 3ft Exhaust tip = Drift bettar than your mom. |

Re: I own a 240
get tension control rods, and tie rods. from a real drifter I talked to, he said it makes a big difference. Steering response and handling is vastly improved and noticable
