Strut Bars------Push or Pull?

I've got a full 4 piece set of Megan Racing strut bars for my '89 Civic H/B. I know they add strength and rigidness to the chassis. BUT, should you make them push against the outside of the car or pull towards the inside? Any help will be appreciated.

neither... set them so that it fits just perfect. At least thats how i have mine.
