Dash lights died this morn on way to work :_( *help*

Hey guys,

I Have a 96 JGC Laredo, I had my headlights on, then all of a sudden i thought i heard a click or slight pop from the fuse box area then all the dash lights went out... head lights stayed on but i could tell parking lights were not on anymore.. im not sure if rear tail or brake lights were off... the WIERD thing is if i turn my left turn signal on, the dash lights flash off and on... turning on right turn signal does not do anything... Any help or ideas would be great... i am supposed to be driving my jeep on to a trip tomorrow Thank you!!!!

You are gonna have to trace down the short. I'll bet you have some melted or chaffed wires or sockets somewhere. Not fun work.

Your problem is a very simple fix but pain in the ass to find. Normally that is caused by a blown fuse, but you said none are blown so thats not it. Which like the guy before me said you have a short in a wire somewhere. Ill wires are normally orange so follow those first basicly your gonna need to follow the wire from start to finish through the whole car. and find a burnt spot, short, tear, rip, something of that sort. Wrap some electrical tape around it or cut it and replace that section if it is large and it should fix it. Like i said easy fix pain in the ass to find the tear in the wire.

That makes sense, but how the hell do you follow every wire thru the whole car until you find the right wire and the right spot? I'm not saying it cant be done, but who has the time? You would need a whole day to do that. I'd just pay a mechanic to do it.
