Question After market computer chips

I am getting around 15 mpg in my 5.7 '99 suburban. I am interested in hearing about computer chips which would increase the mpg. Has anyone seen a good setup which can be switched from economy to performance at the dash? I may need the power at times to pull a trailer.

GOOD MILEAGE and SUBURBAN are mutually exclusive terms.

I will say I wish I got 15 with my 99, however 14.5 is close enough for government work.

You got a few things working against you with regard to getting better mileage.
1.) Drag co-efficient of a large brick.
2.) 5-6000 lbs being pulled by a small block.
3.) gearing that is more at home towing 5-6000 lbs at 40-50 mph than cruising at 70-75mph

Most chips I've seen increase HP at rpm ranges that would have your hair standing on end(Ilove my burb but there is something to be said about a big INLINE 6 with 250ft/lb of torque at 1200 rpm and minimal use of throttle to get underway) . And use of High Test Fuel to boot.

Do the usual tune-up. Switch to Synthetics in the engine oil, transmission, transfer case, and diff's. Just doing the switch to Synthetics MIGHT get you 1-2 mpg, a lot less rolling friction. Your change frequency will extend so it'll even out in the end. Stick an egg under your foot on the GO PEDAL.
