3.4L head gasket issue...since 96??

OK, I've heard of the head gasket issue with the 2000-02 vans, but was this issue common all the way back to 96 (or was it 95) when they switched from the 3800 to the 3.4L?

Or, more specifically, what are common issues with the 97-99 vans?

THanks

as far as i can tell when gm went to the 3.4 in '96 there was an issue with the dexcool and the intake gaskets not being compatible. the '97s ,98s and '99 models i heard they finally changed the material the intake gaskets were made of in 2000 models what i not understanding is why gm didnot recall all of their junk that they sold i mean some of these minivans were sold for $30,000 i have had to put intake gaskets in my '99 twice head gaskets once i guess with all the junk they sold it is no wonder toyoyta beat them out as #1 in model sold gm will still not admit that there is a problem with the 3.4 i have also heard that now also the malibu's with 3.4s are having problems with head and intake gaskets. also they [gm] have a cheap [not when you have to replace it] fuelpump it is made in mexico and is almost all plastic replacement from autozone $320.00 but gm is on their way down and out just give it time
