Re: power side mirror upgrade

Just a wealth of information, aren't we

So, what did you end up finding about the keyless entry?

As for the mirrors....I've upgraded mine, and here is what I had to do:

1) You need a compatible drivers door module (switch) that has all the options you want (ie memory seats, heated leather, power mirrors) as the module vary depending on the options. The module then needs to be programmed for the options you are using. Best bet....grab this off a truck in the boneyard that already has the options. You will also need the passenger door module as well.

2) You need to replace both mirrors (duh) with power ones. There are also options here for turnsignals in mirror, power folding, and heated.

3) You need a switch and bezel for the mirrors. Good luck getting one from the dealer. Supposedly, this would be $100 plus it needed to be programmed. Get one from a boneyard as well.....good luck as most don't sell just the switch though

4) You will need to cut a hole in the door panel to accept the switch and bezel. I just did this last night and was crapping a brick, as I didn't want to mess this up.

That's it Suprisingly, mine work perfectly. About the only thing that isn't working yet that I upgraded, is the memory option for the seats (which I'm chalking up as a 2003 seat in a 2004 truck problem), and the remote keyless entry.

Good Luck!

my salesman lied to me and told me it had remote entry and it did not the dealer installed it for free.the problem with the door locks is that they would lock with the keys in the ignition.plus my 04 ls didnot come with side moldings so my wife would like them,so off i go.do you know if any year mirrors will work or only 04s.
thanx dave

Re: power side mirror upgrade

Remote entry is just a programming option in either the BCM or LGM....so as far as I am concerned, every truck should come programmed with this from the factory.

The door locking options are programable and include self locking options as you describe. However, the 04's (at least) have the options set up to prevent the doors from locking while the key is in the ignition and the engine is off. Lock out protection they call it....

Mine didn't have side mouldings either, and I had to get a VIN from one that did to order them. What a crock! They definately look a lot nicer than the wall of blank metal that used to be the side of my truck. There are different ones available, so make sure you get the ones you want... Be warned, they are pretty pricey from what I remember....maybe in the range of $200+ for the set of four....

Pretty sure the mirrors are all compatible from 02-05, so you should be good to go on whatever you find. Again, just make sure you get the options you want.....
