Re: Nissan SKYLINE GTS25T TYPE M (Should I Buy This?)

your joking right? you cant just buy a skyline and have it shipped over. check into the US forums for all the crap you have to go through to get one in. total cost for an r33 is going to cost you in the area of 40-50 grand depending on model.

Yeah, have you done your homework? Because Motorex is the only legalization Registered Importer you can go through for a Skyline. Contact them and find out if the model you want can be imported first. Last official word I've heard is that '90-'95 are the only ones they can legalize due to OBDII. And I've heard rumors that they can't do any right now, but like I said, contact them and get the word directly:
http://www.motorex.net/skyline.html#
Being an R33, the lowest price for conversion is the '95 which is $17,000:
http://www.motorex.net/pricing.html

I would get the $5K one, you can even tell with those pics that it's been looked after more. It's already got aftermarket body kit, exhaust. The 2K only has side skirts, and it's hard to tell, but it does look like the stock exhaust. Hands down the 5K one has more style and a better starting stage for the cost involved.

So, if you do get the 5K one, plus conversion if it's a '95, the cost would be $22,000 to get it in the US on the street. That's one hell of a deal! Considering if you look at Motorex's pricing page, they sell '95 R33s that they sourced and imported for $34K!

If you've done your homework, that's great and you know what's involved. If not, look at this link for warning of what can happen if you don't have a RI lined up:

Re: Nissan SKYLINE GTS25T TYPE M (Should I Buy This?)

no GTES-T, no skylines at all right now. DOT froze all importation of skylines and has frozen the release of all skylines currently at motorex's facility.

Re: Nissan SKYLINE GTS25T TYPE M (Should I Buy This?)

you cant import one for show use my friend. theres just as much paper work and hassle. also - you obviously dont know that there is a legal limit as to how long the car can be in the country. 6 months unless otherwise specified by customs/usdot.

you arent really doing your homework because if you went to the US forums, we covered every possible way to get one in.

read these links:

2 ways to import - race/show or motorex

illegal registration of skyline

its been covered man. you also have to have a SPECIFIC list of shows the car will be attending, including dates and how many days it will be in each location. then it has to be shipped back out of the country. if it isnt shipped out of the country it either gets crushed, or this happens.

its funny to see all these guys come in here "hey i just bought a skyline and i think im so smart im going to import it and it will be legal and the dot wont catch me because they are so stupid."

trust me....its all been covered in the us forums. everything from:

parting the car out in japan then putting it back together as a kit car

to

importing a skyline if your in the military

to

importing for show use only

why dont you actually do some homework and realize what you are doing is not only extremly illegal, but almost impossible to accomplish?

Re: Nissan SKYLINE GTS25T TYPE M (Should I Buy This?)

ok, go ahead and try and get one in, i want to see your money being thrown away. you didnt even look at the links did you?

heres a direct quote from the National Highway Traffic Saftey Administration

Quote:
VEHICLE ELIGIBILITY

In determining whether a vehicle is eligible for importation for show or display, NHTSA will consider the following factors, among others:

1. Whether a vehicle of the same make, model, and model year was manufactured and certified for sale in the United States.
2. Whether a vehicle of the same make, model, and model year has been determined eligible for importation pursuant to 49 CFR Part 593.
3. Whether the vehicle is currently in production.
4. Whether more than 500 of the vehicles were produced.
5. Whether the vehicle is a kit car, replica, or special construction vehicle.
lets answer them together.

number 1.) no, it wasnt produced for the US (the model you are talking about.

number 2.) no, it wasnt determined eligible.

number 3.) no, it is no longer in production

number 5.) (yes im skipping...read below), no the car is not a kit, replica or special construction vehicle.

heres where you get denied. with number 4.) Yes there were more than 500 produced, but heres the attachments to number 4 where IN DETAIL it explains why you wont be able to get it in.

Quote:
If the answer to any of the above is affirmative, you should not expect NHTSA to grant permission for importation. If the answer to item 4 is affirmative, the applicant must establish that the vehicle is of exceptional technological and/or historical significance.
it is not of exceptional technological or historical significance.

attachments: A.)
Quote:
Technological significance – You must identify (be specific) the technology, engineering, and construction features of the vehicle that are advanced and of an unusual nature not commonly found in motor vehicles manufactured in the same time period
B.)
Quote:
Historical significance – You must identify the historical significance of the vehicle. If a person of historical significance owned the vehicle, you must submit proof that this person owned the vehicle. If the vehicle was the first or last vehicle of a particular model, you must establish this through the manufacturer’s documentation or, if this is not available, through a recognized historical source. If the vehicle was "one of a kind," you must establish this also.

you cant explain the technological or historical significance of a GT-R, let alone a GTS25T. you MIGHT be able to explain technological or historical significance if you got your hands on a more rare version such as a 400R or an LM road edition, or even possibly a Tommy Kaira-R. you didnt do your homework. but go ahead, throw your money away and see what happens. can someone else help me out on this one? wheres razor/vquick/skylineusa/zedex? your forgetting that you STILL NEED TO PASS THE CAR THROUGH CUSTOMS, DOT, and NHTSA before you can get the car. its not as simple as shipping it to the dock then getting it trucked to your house. customs and DOT have to release the car first. thats the major problem.

p.s. heres what you need to read before you even try to do this - http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/import/ShowDisplay/howtosd072003.html

dont forget im only saying all this because i dont want to see you throw 10 grand down the chute because you didnt research.

stupid ass retarded ignorant kids these days.

Just to add to the reason a Skyline cannot be a show car. Number 2 is actually a yes, it was determined eligible for import when Motorex got their petition arroved. Even if Motorex is no longer able to, it is still a yes. This along with the other yes of being more then 500 produced seals it's fate of not being able to be imported as a show car.

CRX-Crooks, like he said, we're telling you this so you don't waste how ever much $K.

If you think you can still get it shipped over, and just go pick it up, not taking any caution from our advice. That's fine, go ahead and I will just add your car to the US Customs Seized/Auction post when it goes up for auction.

If you are starting to think "Maybe these guys know what they are talking about." Then check out this, the list of vehicles arroved for show use and also the list of disapproved ones:
http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/...ay/sdlist.html

Look at how truely rare the ones approved are, or how tech significant they are. Then check out the disapproved list, and many of those are also. And if you look at both, you can tell right where the Skyline will end up, on the disapproved list.
