Another quick question, if I may?
I added a pair of 55w back-up lights to my 2000 LS Z71 Extended cab. I tapped into the 7-pin trailer lighting thingy, and they work great!...But I want more!! Is there an easy way I can wire these lights to also burn steady with the cargo light? Or just wire directly to an aux. switch in the cab so I can have light back there when I need it? (I need step-by-step-by-step instructions....I'm not very electrical!!)

You do know that the cargo light goes out when vechicle is running (even if switch is on)? I would wire in a seperate switch with it's own inline fuse, because you dont want to overload fuse 3 for cargo/courtesy lamp. Fuse 3 is also for the interior lamps, reading, door jam switches, instrment cluster lights and power locks.

Re: 2000 Silverado--Reverse lights/cargo light
Thanks Skipr,
I'm trying to picture this is my feverish (flu) little brain, but I think I can get it figured out; I can pickup power under my dash, us an inline fuse and run a wire back to the lights, right? |

Agrees with Busta...I use my Cargo light to fend off tail gaters...when the Canopy is off of course

I'm sorry I meant while in drive, I forgot to turn my switch off for cargo lights once and I noticed while driving down road that the light was out but switch was on, when I stopped and put in park, the cargo light came back on. I thought it was a saftey feature or something. But after looking at the wiring diagram I see no overide control for the lamp. So I must have a defect cargo lamp...gee what a surprise my truck has wiring problems tooo! |
