We were having the problem with the dome light staying on, because our '98 Mercury Sable "thought" a door was ajar, and the Door Open light on the dash would stay on, which, in turn caused the interior lights to stay on. So, we removed the fuse for the interior lights.
We now have learned from this site how to alleviate the Door Open light problem, and thought it would now be nice to replace the fuse and once again have light inside after 2+ years without it. But we have lost the fuse. So, question is what is this fuse called, or how do we look for it? Is it just an "interior light fuse"? Is it a fuse box, a glass fuse or spade fuse?? These are things I saw when trying to search on the Internet. I'd like to have some sense of what to ask for at the parts store, as many times it seems I have to tell them what I need rather than them helping me find it. Hope someone can help me out! |

Re: Interior Lights/Dome Light FUSE
it is a spade fuse located in a box under the dash on the driver side, look for the missing fuse.

Re: Re: Interior Lights/Dome Light FUSE
Just at the auto parts store and they gave me the little flat ATM-10 fuses (which I assume are Spade Fuses?). But, I could have sworn that when we removed the thing, it was a bigger thing.
Now, looking at the Fuse Location/Description table in my Owner's Guide there is something called Relay 37 - Interior Lamp Relay. I seem to think this might actually be what we need. Because it is not JUST the dome light. It is any and all lamps that would normally come on when you open a door. Because right now our map & dome light work by turning it on manually. It just doesn't work in the automatic setting. So I have a feeling I don't have the right thing. It's too dark/cold to look now; I will check for missing fuses/relays tomorrow. |

Re: Re: Re: Interior Lights/Dome Light FUSE
I had the same problem and the problem corrected itself when we sprayed WD40 in the keyholes on the doors. I am not sure if that was the cause, but the problem did go away.
