OH no check engine light
well it happen again my check engine light came on last night, well heres whats happening under 3000 rpms doesnt matter what gear the car sputters really bad loses power than gains very often, at the begining of the summer the light came on for my iac sensor the one on the back of my intake manifold i removed the sensor cleaned the 2 screens and cleared the code and it was fine, i believe it maybe this again or something else i just need everyones opinion i am more than likely going to have the code read tonight or actually go out and buy a obd2 code reader finally(lord knows i need it) ill keep you all posted with whats wrong thanks for you time

Yea, i was having trouble with my iac and ran some of that lucas fuel cleaner stuff, no problems since. Try that.

I have had that check engine light on for years. It would be on one month and off the next week and back on the next month. I did the whole fuel system cleaning gig and changed the filter and it made no difference.
I did find that advancing the timing a little bit kept the light out for a longer period and it stopped that sputtering at idle and acceleration.

If that were my case i would have a had a full diagnostic run on the car.

thanks i know lucas is good stuff ill give it a try, still dont really know whats wrong needed my car badly, so i cleared the ecu, waiting for it to come back on then will fix whatever is wrong

before you even bother putting anything in the car pull the code and see what's wrong, that way you won't be shooting in the dark

just so you know the only way you can clear the ecu is by using an obdII scanner on obdII equipped vehicles, on obdI you can disconnect the battery and clear the ecu but not on obdII, so even though the check engine light may not be on (assuming you tried to clear the ecu by disconnect the battery) you will still have the code stored in the ecm.

Cont. Mem. Codes Can't Be Erased With The Battery, But On Demand Can Be If The Problem Is Consistent, I Had An Iac Problem, Turned Out That My Tps Was Off, Cehck 2 See If At Closed Throttle Its At .45v And 4.5 At Wide Open
