what to do

ok, so my heater core still isnt here it should be here by friday, but i ordered it 3 weeks ago. anyway, is there anything i can do while the car is sitting? any cheap parts but take a while to install? ive got half the dash out, is there anything i should do that you guys found out will go soon?? i mean, any parts that seem to wear around this time that i should replace now before i put the dash back together?

also, has there been any problems with the heads warping or anything with overheating? im worried about that cuz i left the car running when the heater core blew, it was parked and i was inside. if the head will warp, i wont do anything to the car till i get my heater core and find out if there was any permanant damage. if so, is it pretty expensive to get a head re-ground??

so i ordered the part from the dealership, and got the part the next morning after 3 hours of trying to find where the place was. i got it in last night, got some coolant this morning. got everything set, started it, let it run, and the gauge went all the way up. coolant isnt flowing. the core doesnt even warm up or the radiator suprisingly. is it my thermostat?

Bleeding the coolant:

-Add coolant to the cold full mark on the expansion tank;
-Loosen bleeder screw on thermostat housing;
-Add coolant to expansion tank until it spills from the bleeder screw;
-Tighten bleeder screw.

coolant flows now. it was the thermostat, i pulled it out, and it had some hairline cracks in it.

the car ran fine for a few days, then i started it one time and it ran really rough. almost like on less than 6 cylanders, or even a diesel. it had no power even with the pedal mashed. it would bog down, then rev up, then go back to idle, all while pressing on the gas. someone at www.roadfly.org said it might be the main relay.

idk, this car is so funky when it comes to repairs, im just a 17 year old kid without much experience. but know my mechanics pretty well. the bmws have so many things that can go wrong. i think i may just sell it as a fixer after i piece the dash back together. i think i can get at least 500 out of it if not more. i dont think its anything too major with the engine-IE, cracks in the block. there are no puddles under the car, oil is fine, exhaust smells fine. so no leaks in the coolant-level is fine.
