What am I looking at to replace the water pump?? Is it gonna be a tough job or just a time consuming one or what?? I ask this because I notice that my coolant is leaking at that big hose that comes down from that and goes back into the radiator(passenger side). I found one for about 40 bucks and it just looks like the bolts up front? I'm not looking forward to doing this but considering what happened tonight(another thread) I might as well do it now. Any help is greatly appreciated, especially at such a stressful time in my life.

Re: Water Pump Labor

First drain the coolant. Then you must remove the top portion of the fan shroud. I beleive it has 7 bolts. Then you must rent a fan clutch removal tool (for Vortec engines). I rented mine at PEP BOYS. This will allow you to spin off the fan and clutch from the water pump. Remove fan belt. Remove your two small hoses and the large hose from the pump. Remove the 4 mount bolts. Thats it. Probably a 2 hour job. |
