More Wellington City pics

Did the tourist thing today. I've got an aunt and uncle from SA (now living in London) staying over for my sister's wedding, so we took them around the city today.

Random graffiti at the train station while waiting for the train.

Odd sign at the station.

Train!!

Cool shadows in a covered walkway

To the cable car!

This cable car is a tourist attraction, but is also used by commuters and mostly students to get from Lambton Quay up to Victoria University. Many nights Moss and I used it to get up to his dorm before a night of tomfoolery and adventure!

View from the top

The winding room (just a display, stopped being used in the sixties). This is inside the Cable Car Museum at the very top.

Yours truly inside the winding room. Shit photo, I was mid conversation and moving forward to show my aunt how to use the camera.

Caption: Oh, FUCK
It's a mannequin which I guess is supposed to look like he's thinking, but instead looks like a OMGWTFbbq moment.

Carter Observatory, at the top, in the botanical gardens.

A Krupp Gun, believed to be the last of its kind, near the observatory.

We hung around, doing things here and there, bought some souveneirs then buggered off back down the hill.

Heading to the waterfront to catch the ferry back to Eastbourne.

OMG Tardis!!

The ferry was full, so we booked for the next one and decided to head to BK.

This dude was crankin'!

Rainbow!

The mast of the Wahine (a ferry which ran between the North and South islands) which sank in a storm on 10 April 1968.

Note the complementary seagull.

hehe

Had lunch at BK, strolled around a bit then headed back to the Ferry.

Return of the bucket fountain!

Ferry!

Au revoir Wellington

We came across these two unfortunate fellas whose catamaran had broken its mast. Ferry captain called the coast guard to tow them in then we carried on.

The Interisland Ferry.

Approaching Days Bay

Almost home!

w00t! A fun day in the sun. But now I'm sunburnt. unw00t.
