headling bulb

the light bulb in my head light wen out so i replaced it. when i took the old one the glass was shattered a lil bit. shortly after changing it the new one went out. when i went to replace it i found that it two had glass broke off it. its only been about 2 or 3 weeks since i replaced it. is there any way to tell how or why the bulbs keep breakin? is there anyway to prevent it? thanx

Is there any moisture in the headlight assembly? There is an earlier post about leaking headlight assemblies. Did you touch the glass on the new one prior to installing? Did you clean the new one prior to installing? A new one I took out of a package had fingerprints on it, I cleaned it with 99% Isopropyl alcohol before installing. These bulbs get very hot when on and oils on the glass will create extreme hot spots that will cause the glass to break.

there might be a lil bit of of rain that leaked into the assembly and i think i did touch the glass before installing. i did not clean it. where can i get this alcohol from? there is also glass shards in the light assembly which isnt exactly to get off and on. if i need to, is there anywhere i can get the clips the hold the assembly on other than a junk yard?

Isopropyl Alcohol 99% is available at grocery and drug stores. It is commonly called rubbing alcohol (note the percentage, isopropyl alcohol comes in two percentages). The dealer may be able to order clips for you.
