Hmm....Decisions, Decisions, Decisions.

Heres my dilemma... I own a Stock 88 DX hatch... and i have big plans for it... the only problem is, i have two totally different paths id like to take, and i dont know which one i want more.

on one side, i want to swap in a B18B, Beefed up internals and such, Gude head and all that... tune it to about 200hp... without increasing compression (possible?) and eventually turbo it to around 250-275hp.
of course with this comes a JDM front clip,Some CF, maybe a WW bodykit, 16" Rota Slipstreams, a Semi-Racing Suspension (im thinkin Illumina shocks....not sure) and a minimal interior without losing too much comfort..

on the other hand, i want a wild show car... Air Ride, 17" Konig holes, WW bodykit, Ragtop, Flared Fenders, Some CF, 2 12" or 15" subs behind seats, tv in dash with a PS2, 2 tvs (or one big one) in the back hooked up to an XBOX... all tweed interior, Dressed up stock engine, maybe "freshen" it up a little, Tinted windows, Two tone paint (red/ black w/ silver barbed wire airbrushed on to seperate colors) you know... typical show car.....I belong to a car club with a bunch of my friends and im the only one who owns a stock car!... sad really..

I aint asking which one to choose, cause 75% will say the first one, and then 25% will say choose what u want.... what i want to know is how can i go about making a combination of both without sacrificing too much? i want to be able to run mid 13s before the turbo... and i still want a bangin (like that?
) interior....

Comprimise.... comprimise..... so this is what im thinking......

First buy a decent running Integra 90/91/92 (whichever ones is OBD0) or just get the front clip. but if i get the whole car cheap enough id get it so i could use the disk brakes for a nice conversion.
But work on the engine little by little as i do other mods like some nice 16"s or 17"s, ONE 12" sub (maybe a W7) get some lighter seats,Mild interior work, maybe a Tv with a PS2,
Cf Hood, CF Hatch, Possibly CF fenders and Door Skin.... and around this time....have the engine ready to go in, with a pretty stout motor
With new (balanced) crank, rods, pistons, (bored to 2.0?) etc....and hopefully a ported/polished raced head with bigger valves and a mild cam, and built tranny... then work on getting all the body mods done...i want to have everything i need first before i put it all on....i want to be driving the shortest time possible with 12 different color things on it!.. but get a WW bodykit, Flares, CF front chin spoiler, CF rear diffuser, roof scoop (?) and Angel eyes, and CF taillights, Some neon (maybe)....then after the two tone paint described earlier, save for the turbo.....

I think thats the most expensive route, but its probably best....
So what do u think? I want to beat some 4.6 and 5.0s just as much as i wanna look good and load up some girls, so ....tell me watcha think?

oh yea....one more option..
Fully Built K20A from an RSX, Turboed to about 26lbs, making around 450horses, and sporting the biggest aluminum wing and hubcap spinners and a HUGE APC exhaust.......thats a sleeper....j/k by the way..

Re: Hmm....Decisions, Decisions, Decisions.

Too much reading.. Got cliff notes?

200hp NA without bumping the compression I would say is not possible on a B18A/B. Some people may argue that with me, but it would be hard to prove because I doubt anyone will have done that.

I think you just need to decide what would make you most happy and go with it. I mean, we can't answer whats best for you. If you know girls hanging out infront of Walmart that go for guys in 13 year old Civics, then go that route. But hopefully your car isn't the ticket to getting ass for you, if thats the case your in the wrong kind of car.

In my years of modding I've learnt that I get mucho satisfaction out of things I do to the car that I get something back from. EG: Suspension, motor, seats, steering wheel, good tires, etc.
Things that are purley for cosmetics I find don't do anything for me once I have it installed, and quickly become old and tired. Keeping up with fashion trends is too fuckin expensive.

That what I think, but I didn't really read more than 10 sentences of your post.

Re: Hmm....Decisions, Decisions, Decisions.

ya i didnt realize how long it was till just now.... if it would be hard to get 200hp Na on a B18a/b then i dont wanna do it...im gonna build it, but i dont wanna have a Racing motor....i want a Raceable street motor...

Thats the funny things about girls....they think all civics with just rims and exhaust are fast... My car isnt the ticket to getting ass... it just helps! hell, being 16 ANY car is a ticket to ass with girls....and im taking advantage of it before everyone has a car

Im gonna shut up now before this becomes too long... thanks for the info.

Re: Hmm....Decisions, Decisions, Decisions.

I agree with SiZ and quiXilver completely. I bought my car dirt cheap kind of riced out but knowing it had high compression pistons. I was a little upset that it didn't have rims and it had a bouncy low ride (ebay=sight unseen). And as for ICE, I had my own system all ready to go in so I told the dude to yank it all out. I drove the car from NJ and was impressed with the speed on the freeway but shortly forgot all about it, putting in my system, etc. Anyway, long story short, I bought some better performance parts, blew the motor up, switched it out with stock compression and learned to drive it and tune it better. I just removed and sold my 10s and amp and I could care less cuz I'm half deaf and the rex loves the diet. My car has a shitty paint job, has duct tape on the custom plexiglass sunroof, but will most definitely wax lots of redneck mobiles. Oh, and I'm married so getting ass... well, let's just say I'm not looking. Anyway, if I had the bread, I'd do B18, engine management, lightweight 15s, suspension and some carbon fiber.

Re: Hmm....Decisions, Decisions, Decisions.

performance parts pay off in the end really - who doesn't want to go fast? The ICE is important to me also, because if you're stuck in major traffic you can turn those beats up Custom interior is cool, but that's usually just to impress others who drive with you, but can have some function to it as well (aka cupholders!)

about bodykits, etc, before i got on this forum all i could think of was getting bodykits...too much fast and furious crap i guess, lol. Now i like the clean stock look, but a nice body kit can look pretty good, but the money going to the kit you could get springs, tires, wheels, etc. Maybe after you're done with everything get a kit, so i'd save that for last.

Re: Hmm....Decisions, Decisions, Decisions.

I'd say build your motor, upgrade the suspension but don't do air ride - you'd have a hard problem racing or doing any performance driving with that. Put a nice clean body kit on, then upgrade the stereo to what you want. Don't go all out on your conversions if you don't have the money. Just upgrade what you got. Instead of the jdm front clip, do the body kit. But in the end - it all just depends on what you want.

that is because that is what you like. tune into any NOPI vision and you'll see an event packed full of cars saying otherwise. for some people the appeal of having a show car is taking it to shows and getting a hard on by watching other people get a hard on over their car. some people do it simply for the bragging rights of "i spent $xxxxx on my car"

in my years of modding i've learned that you should stick to either speed or show. you can do both. just be aware that doing either can be expensive, doing both will be very expensive. you'll have twice the maintance.

Re: Hmm....Decisions, Decisions, Decisions.

very true, but if you go mild on both speed and show, it'd be balanced wouldn't it? make your car a little faster and a little nicer show-wise

Re: Re: Hmm....Decisions, Decisions, Decisions.

that is what i tried to do and i still ended up sinking $10,000 worth of mods into my car....not counting paint. the day my car comes out of paint it will no longer be my daily driver. i've been outting off crossing that line.

thank goodness some of my stuff was bought at cost. that $10,000 is more like $7500 actual dollars spent.

Thats what i was thinkin of doing, Have a fast engine, but something that will last me 0ver 100,000...and not too crazy either. But also i want a nice interior, but not Fiberglass dash, 32" tv in back, etc... i dont care a whole lot about how i would do in a Car show, but i enjoy having those comforts... like, before school, i wake up at 4:30....leave around 5, go work out at the gym and take a shower and stuff, then head to school, by the time i get there, its still 30-45min till they even open the doors.... what id give somedays to have the 30-45 minutes going towards GT3 (or GT4 whenever it comes out) so i think thats what im gonna do.... get me some nice 17s (probably black Konig Holes with the Chrome Lip) then buy a Donor car with the engine... and do what i was talking about earlier on the forum.
