Question Disable Day Headlights

Im Hoping Theres Somebody Out There Who Knows How To Disable The Headlights That Stay On During The Daylight Hours. It Is Annoying. I Think We As Car Owners Should Have The Option To Turn It Off If We Want.....thanks

Re: Disable Day Headlights

You can also take the bulbs out.

Re: Disable Day Headlights

On my 2004 Silverado 1500, you simply turn the healight switch counterclockwise (it will spring back right after). That turns the daylight lights off FOR THAT TIME until the engine is turned off. Then you'd do it again the next time.

Re: Disable Day Headlights

You can disable the DRL's by pulling the DRL Relay that will stop them from coming on. Or you could just simply snip one of the wires that goes to them.
If your talking about the Automatic function of the headlights I did a mod on mine that required a 1.5K Resistor and two wires from the BCM. I put a switch on this setup so it can be in Automatic or in a mode where I have complete control.
Let me know if your talking about the latter...

Re: Disable Day Headlights

You can either just pull the bulbs or pull the fuse.

Re: Disable Day Headlights

The inventor of the DRL (Daytime Running Lamp) was an idiot. I can't think of any instance where someone's DRL made me more alert or aware of their presence. All they do is annoy me cuse to me cars look better during the day without lights on.

Re: Disable Day Headlights

I guess I couldn't disagree with you more, catback23. I think DRL's are one of the best safety features going. I've had lots of instances where I noticed someone because of daytime lighting. Before I got my Silverado, I used to just run with my headlights on in the daylight. Many times some concerned citizen just had to inform me that my lights were on, but hey, at least they noticed me! I love the lighting set-up of my Silverado, I never have to even think about turning my lights on or off anymore.

Re: Disable Day Headlights

DOT studies started back in the 70's and continue to today indicate a dramatic decrease in day time accidents involving vehicles with DRL's.
