soft brakes

ok there is no fluid lost from the master cylinder and the brakes have been bled multiple times and have also been replaced. I'm wondering if it would be the brake booster or anything else, its a 92 civic.

Re: soft brakes

i know that replacing the regular brake lines with steel lines will harden the brakes some.

Re: soft brakes

Before I had to slam my brakes all the time due to air bubbles in my lines. My weak master cylinder was creating these bubbles even after I bleeding my brakes several times. Once I replaced the master cylinder it was fine. When the springs or components inside the master cylinder are worn out it creates air bubbles on it's own.

Re: soft brakes

so i should look into a new master cylinder, which leads to my next question. Im trading some parts for a disk brake conversion on the back so will i need to get a better master cylinder or is it the same in a integra and civic with drums in the back.

Re: soft brakes

well you will need to increase master cylinder to increase the pressure of the fluid to the brakes,
if you dont your pedal will be longer than what you have now when freshly bleeded,

and for the rear disc conversion youll need a 40 40 proportioning valve from a integra or a sir (si in the us)

a master from any civic or tegs will do,
as for the prop valve, any from a 94-01 teg non abs should fit there

You can also get a proportioning valve from Wilwood for $45, and it's adjustable. I'm doing front and rear integra brakes on my Civic. And since the car is so old you should replace the brake lines. Steel braided are ideal of course. If yopu are doing the rear disc conversion make sure to get the brake lines for the car you have in the 4-wheel disc trim.

Re: soft brakes

the diaphram in the brake booster might have been punctured...otherwise i would say that you have air in the lines.
