Metal in power steering fluid
Hello,
I have a 1989 Taurus GL automatic with 95K miles. My mechanic told me that he found metal shavings in the power steering fluid. He has flushed/replaced the fluid, but my worry is that this points to bigger problems. Any ideas what kind of work will be required? I am not mechanically inclined, but need to know how to deal with a mechanic when getting this investigated and fixed. thanks in advance oam |

Re: Metal in power steering fluid
it could mean the impeller on the pump is on its way out. Its a relatively cheap part and on an '89 the labor involved shouldn't be TOO bad.
