rough idle/vibration at stops

I have a 2004 Passat 1.8T with 4Motion - I have no problem starting it on cold mornings but as soon as it starts it runs really rough and the malfunction indicator lamp comes on...
It also seems to vibrate too much even after it's warmed up, especially when I'm stopped in traffic.
I plan to take it to the dealer - is there anything specific I should tell them to check? I had the same problem on an older Passat but the dealer claimed they couldn't find the cause...Thanks[/b].

They can have trouble with coolant sensors & o2 sensors and faulty airflowmeters which depending on where you got the vehicle from should be under warranty.
Take it to somewhere that uses vag-com or VAS equipment and get them to check for faults in the fault memory.

Also you may wan't to check the engine for any corroded vacuum hoses and spark plugs condition(both unlikely given the year of the vehicle but couldn't hurt to check).

Let us no how you get on-good luck!
