1995 Honda Civic oil change

Is the oil drain bolt 17mm?

I will be checking the oil level when adding oil but what is the usual amount needed for these engines? I have heard it was 3.7-4qts.

Thanks!

yes its a 17mm bolt, its much easier to get at the oil filter from the bottom, and you usually wont fit more than 3.5 but you should take your car off the jackstands and make sure its level after 3 quarts and then try to get it to the optimum level for vtec (the full dot)
my oil pan has a few dents in it so i usually am full at 3 quarts =\ you definately dont want to put in 4 quarts. and i think 3.7 liters is the recommemded amount after overhaul (complete removal and cleaning)

What I do after I change the filter and oil is run the car for a couple minutes so that the filter and everything else gets full. Keep in mind that filters take a bit of oil too. Of course I let it sit for couple minutes after the car is off and then check the oil. I find that changing the copper ring requires less torque on the oil pan, thus less apt to strip the pan/bolt. Copper is a soft metal, so they do not last long, maybe 3 to 4 oil changes, depending how rough you are.
