High MPG at High MPH
I'm looking at a change in job that will require a daily 2 hour commute (round trip). The interstate has a normal cruising speed of 85 mph. Any ideas of which car will make the best mpg at this speed. My '96 C1500 will suck about 13 gallons per day at that speed. Yeah, I know it's cheaper to keep it, but I'm looking for something new anyway. Any ideas??

Re: High MPG at High MPH
my maxima has a digital readout that tells you your mpg and other info. in 6th gear at 2500 rpm it does 85 mph and averages from 35-40 mpg according to the computer. a lot of cars with 6 speeds will surprise you with mileage they're capable of. my friend's 89 corvette had a readout similar to mine that displayed MPG and we could get 35-38 mpg in that thing too at around the same rpm and speed.

Re: High MPG at High MPH
you could try to find some lower ratio rear end gears (it will hurt acceleration, but help mpg)
