The Plot Thickens

I fixed my Code 41 problem on my 88 4bbl Caprice with a new distributor and module. The connection in the distributor to the module was really corroded.

The car ran great for a day.

Now it won't start and when I turn the ignition to the on position (before cranking the engine), I hear a clicking sound coming from the top of the motor...sounds like it's coming from the carb. I'm going to check for spark tomorrow, but if that's not it, I'm at a loss.

I really hate sending stuff to mechanics, but I may have to now.

If anyone has had a "clicking carb" with no start, I would love to hear about it.

Thanks guys and gals.

Re: The Plot Thickens

The clicking sound you hear w/ignition on but not engaging the starter is the idle solenoid - it's completely normal and turns itself off after about 10 seconds.

If you swapped distributors, did you use your old distributor gear or the one that came with the new one? If you swapped the new one in directly, the gear teeth aren't meshing correctly (something about the gear material that gets torn up).
