Blower Motor is whacking out.

I ride in a '99 GP GT. Lately, the blower motor has been whacking out, making some really strange, disturbing noises. The other day (Christmas, in fact) it got much louder and was actually causing the dashboard to vibrate slightly. And there was a slight odor coming from it. I know it's under the dash, passenger side. Does it sound like I need to replace the whole motor, or maybe just the bushings for the squirrel cage? And what would that entail?

Re: Blower Motor is whacking out.

I hade the same problem with my 99 GT. I ended up replacing the blower fan. The fan comes with the cage. Alll you need to do is get under the passengers side with a socket screwdriver and pull out 3-4 screws and the whole motor will drop down and you just need to unplug it from the electrical. The scews in the back may give you some trouble as thay are little hard to reach but it can be done with som patients. I took my passenger seat out (4 bolts) to give me more working room. Definatly a do it yourself job. I got the part @ a wreckers for $50.00. The dealership wanted $250.00. Good luck!
