several dash lights coming on and going off please help

i have a 1996 monte carlo 3.1 liter. the car runs but im getting a lot of weird lights coming on and going off. my security light comes on and stays on. my volts light comes on sometimes and off sometimes. and my anti lock light came on for a while and goes off. ive replaced the battery and the alternator. as far as the volts light, the car cranks fine with no problem but dont want my wife to get stranded somewhere. as far as the anti lock and security light, they havent caused a problem yet but wandering why this keeps happening. just wandering if anyone else out there has had this sort of problem. thanks in advance for the response. also or keys sometimes dont work and they have the chip in them. when it happens you turn the key in the ignition and nothing happens. no click or nothing. normally you can wait 5 or 10 minutes and then the same key will crank the car. again thanks in advance for the help.

Well, your security light is most likely your key. It sounds like you key isn't fully programmed with your ignition. try leaving the key in the ON position for about 10 minutes. I think this is how you reprogram your key. As for your other lights I would say its an electrical problem, but since you already replaced your battery and alternator I'm not sure what to tell you. If you can get those lights to come on at the dealer you could get a diagnostic and pull your error codes.

thanks for the help but i figured out it was my alterenator again causing all the lights to go crazy. this time i bought a lifetime alternator and as far as my key, thanks for that i havent tried the 10 minute reprogramming trick. ill give that a shot and see if that helps me. thanks for the help.
