any ideas?

I'm getting a different car soon, probably something along the lines of a civic or integra. The first thing I'm gonna work on is audio. I just want some good setup ideas or examples of what some of you have. Keep in mind I'm gonna be working fast food to get the money so I can't get the most expensive receiver/speakers/subs. Thanks.

most people have the following:

a head unit (CD player)
an EQ
a crossover
amp(s)
midrange and tweeter for front
bass speaker(s)

some of these may be part of the same unit ... i.e. most 4 channel amps have built-in crossovers, many EQ's have a crossover, etc ...

Re: any ideas?

There's a few factors first....... there needs to be a set or approximate budget for the entire thing. Also what so you want from the sound system. Loud clean crisp highs with strong punchy midbass and deep smooth bass with excelent overall sound quality? Do you want just all out loud in everything? Do you want it bass heavy even or to lean to the highs/mids more? Do you want the bass to be louder as it gets lower(bottom heavy) or nice even bass?

Alright the budget will probably be <$600. But that is just right off the top of my head because this is gonna be a progressive project since I'm only in high school and can only land a decent part time job, so I could actually spend a little more than that. I listen to a variety of music but mostly rap (90%) so you know I love bass. I don't know much technical stuff about subs/speakers/amps but here's the way I like my music: I lean a little more towards crispness than speakers that will blow a girls clothes off, I want some impressive bass because of the rap music, and the head unit HAS TO be mp3 capable because almost all of my CDs are burnt. I hope I put a good picture in your head.

Re: any ideas?

Well 600 isn't gunna get you much for a complete system especially w/ MP3 and a lot of bass. and lilparker i would NOT reccomend pioneer except for theie HU's. JL and Eclipse is insanely over priced and much better stuff can be had for much cheaper. For a head unit look on ebay for something around 200 bucks and get a decent one with the mps your need look for alpine, pioneer, eclipse, and panasonic. For your sub and amp Go with a used resonant engineering Sx 15. Build our own ported box 4 cubes tuned around between 28 and 35hz. for your amp look for a used hifonics bx1500d. the sub will be around 250 give or take some and 200 give or take some on the amp shipping included. That's around 650. Use your stock speakers until you save up at least another 200-250 for components and a comp. amp. You'll also need to dish out another 50 or so for the box.
