What do you guys think?

Right now i have a '92 chevy corvette. I got it last april. It's pretty sweet, bright red. It is in really good condition, and only 32k miles on it. I mainly need a daily driver, but i like to race too. My car has the LT1, so i always end up losing to Camaros and Trans Ams with the LS1. Right now it is stock all the way around.

I have been plannign to do some mods to it, but couldn't really afford it this summer. Recently, however, I got a new job and am making quite a bit more money. What do you guys think i should do - Keep my vette and put some nice mods into it, or sell it and Get a used WS6? I am thinking of an '00-'02 WS6 with low miles and in equal condition to my current car. A convertable would be nice, but it isn't a must.

There are pros and cons to each choice. I love my car, and i think Corvettes are sexy as hell. Like i said before, my car runs great and is spotless inside and out. Also, i am pretty sure that c4 vettes have better suspension packages than f-bodies. I shelled quite a bit for new tires for my car, too.

On the other hand, a Trans Am would have the LS1, and it would have a back seat. One thing i never liked about my car is the fact that it is only a 2-seater. Also, i think that those Ram Air hoods on the Trans Am are damn sexy.

So, what do you guys think? Any input would be appreciated.

i agree, corvettes are sexy, but have you ever seen a black ws6 on the road? ws6's are extremely dead sexy. i don't have a lot of experience with lt1's, but a ws6 can be made into a low-12, perhaps high-11 second car with just exhaust and h/c. the ls1 responds extremely well to mods. i'm sure the lt1 does too, but man, the ls1 is one powerful motor.

however, the uniqueness of a corvette is always a plus. you can say "yeah, i drove a vette" and the lt1 is also a really good motor with a huge aftermarket following. it all comes down to preference.

Re: What do you guys think?

I would say keep the vette. It's probably more rare than a WS6. Plus you already know your car, if you get something else, it might have problems. I don't know much about american engines, but I'm sure you could mod it.

Re: What do you guys think?

It's cheaper and easier to mod the Vette out, the Fbody cars have the motors stuffed halway under the dash.

Not so easy to do basic maintanence, let alone putting on aftermarket parts.

But, once the shit is done. They do fly. It's up to you man.

Each car is equally cool and beautiful.

Re: What do you guys think?

keep the vette and get an lt-1 to lt-4 conversion roughly $2300 it will throw you up to about 425 hp. Free up some more horsepower with headers 3" exhaust, your choice of muffler and high flow cats. It really depends on the ammount of work you will be willing to do because at 425 hp you will salmon slap ws6 and the 97-02 ls1's

That's a tough decision man! I do love the ls1 cars, but the lt1 cars are definately capable of great numbers!!! Post of a pick of your car and let us go from there!

Re: What do you guys think?

go with the vette.... you already know the car in and out...don't risk getting another car that you know nothing about the previous owner's driving habits...

plus... the vette... cmon! it's a vette!

Re: What do you guys think?

Could you keep the 'Vette and drop in an LS1? If you could, it would be a nice...well...napper (wouldnt quite call it a sleeper, so napper works right here), and suprise everyone in those LS1ed WS^s and SSs?

I have seen 00-02 Ws6 Trans Ams in the 17k range with around 40 thousand miles on them. I bought my 00 WS6 as a program car with 4500 miles on it for 24k. You could probably get 15k or so for your Corvette if you sold it privately, if not, close to it. I would personally get the Ws6. As someone said earlier, with drag radials, headers, better exhaust, and maybe a reprogrammer you will have a 1car that can dip DEEP into the 12s, maybe even snag an 11 with really good driving. I would personally go with the WS6, but you can tell im a little biased. You can start with a better platform, for just about the same amount of money. Someone mentioned the Vette being more rare.. I dont think so. Around here anyway its WAY more common to see a C-4 Vette going down the road then see a WS6 trans am, but maybe thats just around here.

Every one and their Neighbours best friends dog has a C4 around where I live. Personally I would go wit ha WS6 aswell. The vette is nice. but a T-top ws6 is nicer if it was a c5 vette I'd say keep it. but personally the C4 is the blandest of all the vettes. Still nice. but Bland. and the LT1 could use a little more juice. Is your vette still real low mileage? I'm sure you could snag a pretty penny for it if it's in good int/ext condition as well.

Enough to buy a WS6 anyhow
