Underpowered
I am the not so happy owner of an 02 LS with the V6. The car is driven by my wife and I cringe every time I get behind the wheel. This car is sadly underpowered, continuously downshifting due to lack of power. It is sad that this engine ever was released in such a car. Is there a supercharger kit available for the V6 LS?
Thanks in advance |

Re: Underpowered
Not exactly. There is one in the works but has not been installed on any cars to prove it out. Give it a few more months. There IS a cold air intake that gives about 12hp and a flasher unit that yields about 12 more. www.fordpartsnetwork.com sells the flasher. The intake is available at www.llsoc.com.
Out of curiosity, what is your normal driver? I've never before heard such a vehement concern for the power of the V6...

Re: Underpowered
right 220 is not that bad for a v6. Sure it is about 20 off from most but I dont cringe more like envy
the others.

Thanks for the reply!
Sadly enough, My company car, a 2003 Taurus SES with the 3.0 (not the dual ohc engine) will spank my LS silly. (I have done this side by side while fooling around with my wife driving the LS)The Lincoln lacks any torque feeling at all. The only performace feel I can get out of the Lincoln is when starting from a dead stop and letting it whine at full throttle through all the gears. I really feel that if it weren't for the close ratio's in the automatic it would be even worse. When cruising at any speed and attempting to accelerate the car has no sack at all, you can push the pedal, but feel very little pull. Mash it and it will downshift, again making the motor scream and hence you will get some power, but only after making the car drop a gear (or two). I find I am continously shifting the car manually and leaving the engine RPMs above 3500 just to get any kind of drivability that doesn't feel sluggish. Sean |
