Series 1 series 2 differences

New to the forum. New to Lexus.
I'm considering buying a Lexus. I know nothing about them other than they have a fantastic rep.
From what I can tell, the series 2 Lexus came out around '95. Please correct e if I'm wrong.
How can I tell the difference between a series 1 and a series 2 Lexus?
Also, what do you guys prefer, last of the series 1, or first of the series 2?
Things to watch out for when purchasing a Lexus?
Is the air suspension reliable?
Do the automatic transmissions give trouble?
Fiddly bits? Electric seats/mirrors/aerials/windows etc.
An advice would be greatly appreciated.
