best place to mount a radar detector

in a 1997 sw.. i was thinking on the roof part, right behind the mirror.. would the dash be better?

It doesn't really matter if you're detector isn't illegal in your state. I have a Beltronics radar detector that cost $180 two years ago. It is a little old i know but it is powered by 2 AA batteries and is still key for tracking down those pesky porkers while i'm in high gear. It's mounted on my visor with a nifty belt clip it came with but i can't really move the visor down to block the sun and such. If you use it (i usually wear shades) I wouldn't recommend putting it up there but i think it's a terrific place if you don't. Putting it on the dash will mean it's less likely to be seen if you're concerned about that but it's pretty difficult to hide these things from the cops. I wouldn't put it on the winshield cuz the suction cups tend to be lousy on any detector sold.

VG-2 is awesome. Mine automatically shuts off if it detects it then comes back on. Gotta watch out for the new VG-3 though.
