98 wrangler stalling on highway

if i drive about 60, it will take alittle while but it will stall. I wait about 10-15 minutes, and restart it. I still have to drive slower, cause if i drive at a faster spped, it will slall quicker. Jeep tells me nothing is wrong with it, cause the computer cant find anything, obviously they are not sitting on the side of the highway with me in this cold Iowa temp. Is there anymore real mechanics out there, that dont rely on just a computer to do it all? Does anyone know what the problem could be?

When i am driving on the highway, my jeep will stall out. It will have to sit on the side of the road for atleast 10 minutes, then you can start it again. But if you drive fast it will happen again, and again. Hell even if you drive slower like 60, it will still happen. Now i take it to jeep, and nothing will show when they do a diagnostic. What the heck is the problem?

Re: 98 wrangler stalling on highway

Couple things I'd check into are the catalytic converter could be partially clogged, creating backpressure that gets too high at high speeds. Second, take the mechanic for a ride so they can duplicate the problem; then they'll be able to put it up on the rack and run it while the computer is hooked up.

I am no mechanic, but,my 99 Wrangler was acting the same way, and I was told by my dealer everything was OK.Then one day, after several "unscheduled stops" along a busy highway waiting for my Wrangler to cool off and run properly, I unplugged my oxygen sensor (I thought it was emissions related), and it ran beautifully all the way home. Of course my "check engine" light came on, but I ran it for over a month that way, until I was convinced problem was eliminated, since it had been intermittent before that, and it has had no problems ever since. Hope this helps.
