Door Speakers??

I have a 1997 Mercury Sable LS with the Mach Audio System. I need new door speakers but when I go to Crutchfield they say that either a 5 1/4 or a 6x8 will fit. Does anybody know what size is in the doors stock?? My girlfriend has my car for now so I cant pull the door panel and look.

Thanks.

Radio Speakers, Package Tray
Removal

Remove package tray trim panel .

Remove four radio speaker retaining screws.

Lift radio speaker (18808) and disconnect radio speaker wire. Remove radio speakers.

Installation

Follow removal procedure in reverse order.

Tighten radio speaker to 1.2-1.8 Nm (11-15 lb-in).

In simple clear terms.

1. Remove rear seat bottom and back.

2. Remove both rear seat belt trim.

3. Remove cloth package tray. "No srews"

4. Remove speaker screws easily ha, ha, ha.

I know this is an old post, but for those who might be curious. The speakers in the Sable are 5x7's or 6x8's (same thing). 5- 1/4 speakers will fit, but they are ovular 5x7's all around. IF you put the 5.25's, the mount holes will work, but it wont be a perfect fit, and not that it is necessary.

I have a 99 Sable with the Mach Audio system too. LMAO, thats really funny though. They have housings for 1" tweeters in the corner of the window. So I went to replace my speakers. What I found, is that there are NO speakers present in the houseings (lol). Its really gay. Anyways, Im not sure if mine is the only one like that or everyone with a Mach system?
