What gender are your friends?

Since VideoNasty made a few comments on this in the "Feminism" thread, and I've been meaning to ask anyways: Which gender do you typically befriend?

I find that most girls are just too stupid to bother with. I like cars, I understand most things about cars, and I am not afraid to speak up when someone is blowing smoke (aka... "the 55" aluminum wing I have gave me 15hp..." Um, NO! )

Granted, I always get stuck listening to how "hot" this chick is or how that chick has no ass, but I have learned to tune most of that out. A few of the guys even tell me that I put up much more of a fight driving than they ever expected! They let me look over their shoulder (since I'm taller than most of them *lol*) when they are looking in the magazines. I even got to tell the lady at the clutch shop about how I burnt it out racing with the boys! :hehehe:

So, now that I've rambled on endlessly... Which gender are most of your friends?

Most of mine are men. I’ve only really got a couple of close female friends.

Like I said most of my freinds are male..but I have a few really close female freinds that I have known all thru high school.....they can be dumb girls at times......but for the most part they are alot like I am....they aren't backstabbers, they are really cool chicks(but they aren't into cars, thats their one big downfall )

I must agree that listening to my male freinds go on about girls can get rather annoying....like when they treat you JUST like one of the guys, that can also be rather hurtful, as they can forget that you are a girl...(at least back when I was single that bothered me more)

It's kind of funny how almost all of my friends are guys. I don't have any brothers at all (2 younger sisters though), but I was basically raised with my 2 guy cousins. When I was younger I played little league until they kicked me out for being a girl . My cousins got to keep on playing, but since I was the only girl in the league, they came up with some BS reason why I couldn't be in it.
Anyways, I guess since I grew up on motorcycles and bb guns instead of barbies, it's kind of changed my view. I agree with you guys about how most girls are whiny, high-maintenance, like to complain, etc., and that's why I don't get along with most of them. My main concern in life is not shoes.
I love hanging out with guys. When I am with other girls, I almost feel like it is a competition. I don't know, it just feels that way. But with the guys, it's just so much more laid back and fun. I always have SO much more fun with guys than with girls. I only really have 1 or 2 good girl friends, and all the rest are guys. I've been stabbed in the back, lied to, and hurt by some of my former 'girl friends', but I've found that when you get the trust of a guy, that's a very important thing that won't break over some other person. Ya know? Like I've had some girl friends get mad at me over a guy that I'm friends with, saying that I'm taking their boyfriend away or something. My crew is almost all guys, and most of them have girlfriends that like to whine and complain about EVERYTHING. That's why I like 'guys night out'.
It's so cool though how all of you guys are like this, and understand eachother's points of view. Gosh, if I knew you all in real life, I'd say that I could have a LOT more female freinds. You all are so cool, and it's kind of nice getting to see the female point of view on so many things--from a female that thinks like I do.

I'm curious though, those of you with boyfriends/husbands/whatever, how do they react to it? I mean the fact that most of us hang out with a majority of other guys. Do they get jealous or mad or anything? I'm just curious.

JEALOUSY!!!!!!!!!!!

My current b/f is and has been a good friend of mine for 2 or 3 years now. He would be the last person to admit it, but I think he's jealous of my being friends (and yes, I am a flirt, but I don't act upon it) with his guy friends. And it particularly sucks that since we pretty much share friends, when he wants to go out with just "the boys" I get marooned at home on the internet with nothing better to do. I always joke around and complain about how I need female friends, but since I live at home while commuting to college, there aren't many people that stick around during the day for me to hang out with and just talk. Sure, I do have a neighbor (friend would be too strong of a word) who likes cars and is supertall like me, but she is remarkably shallow and not dreadfully bright. I really want to gain new friends, but my school is 35 minutes away, and most of my classmates live on the far side of the school, so meeting up isn't exactly easy. (especially now with my car in the shop for 5 days ) But yeah, I love my guy friends. That likely won't change any time soon.

my boyfreind was first and foremost a really great freind..he helped me out of a sticky situation with my ex-fiancee and we kinda went from being freinds....to freinds with 'perks'...to finally deciding that we loved each other...currently we are very serious...would like to spend the remainder of our lives together but waiting for a few years before we make the 'marrage' commitment, to make doubly sure that we are perfect for each other.....

Shawn's out look on everything is that I have lots of male freinds...but I end up in his bed each night he actually likes to see other men admire his girlfreind, and wish that they had a chick like me makes him feels all the more lucky for having me all to hisself

My husband’s fine with me having a lot of male friends because he’s really good friends with them too. He does get a bit jealous about some guys who I chat with on AIM (although I’ll probably never get to meet them). He’s generally pretty good about it and he knows that it’s him that I love and him that I married, so it’s fine.

hehehe do i see a common trend here???

it seems all us gals who are into cars have a lot of male friends! My b/f and i have the same male friends so it's all good

BUT he does get a little jealous of the Skyline ppl i meet thru the SDU forums, probably because he doesn't know any of them. He doesn't understand that the cruises and stuff we go on are just cruises and a chance to meet other Skyline lovers, not some big pick-up meeting!

Hehe, that’s so true! Moon only gets jealous of the ones that he doesn’t know that I talk to. He’s fine with all the guys from SDU because he knows them and he knows what goes on at the cruises. It’s the ones in the US and also around New Zealand that he doesn’t that he gets a bit funny about.

well, I think I have about the same amount of male & female friends, sure I like to watch hockey & get hammered with the guys, I've known them since high school and they're really great guys to hang out with, but when it comes to trips to the mall & what not their girlfriends are who I turn to so for me it's all good

About 95% of my friends are guys. I have one really close girl friend and her husband and Alex have been best friends for 4 years. They live about 40 miles away but we drive out and spend SUnday's at their place. The boys work on car's or other toys and she and I play video games, chat, or do other stuff along with their 10 month old son.

I have tried to befriend more girls but they are either too catty, petty, whiny, co-dependent, or whatever. I like a certain amount of space and personal time, but most girls I have been friends with don't understand that. I am one of the few that doesn't like to talk on the phone for hours on end or spend every spare minute gossipping about what their b/f did wrong the other day. And I hate shopping. If I need new clothes or whatever, I go by myself so I can get it done and over with....in 20 minutes LOL.

haha Katwomen soooo agree with you about the phone thing! I hate yakking on the phone for ages, it gives me a sore ear, and just shits me. I would rather visit them and chat over a glass of wine

or maybe i just love an excuse to drive somewhere in my car???? haha ulterior motive

as for shopping, I find if I NEED something in particular, it's easier by myself...I can go where i want, no stuffing around....in and out, like you said...

"General" shopping for shoes/clothes/whatever is fun with a g/f tho....

GUYS

Hey gurls, whats up. Id hate to admit it but most of my friends are guys. Thanx to my boyfriend. Ever since i got into the import scene and i got my integra, guys keep pouring in. Its great, but i finally realized that some girls are just stupid (not you girls of course) but my old friends, their just plain dumb and evil, and they ditch me for their so called boyfriends that they live a fairytale life with. Of course i have one girlfriend that will always be there for me, and another recent new girlfriend that is in love with my boyfriends friend, i dunno her and i have gone through the same bs with the other girls and we've decided that theyre dumb. N e ways my best guy friend is ofcourse my boyfriend. Its awesome to have a serious relationship with you best guy friend. And the fact that we love the same thing(honda's) is awesome too. GUYS, IMPORTS, and AFTERMARKET PARTS ARE THE BEST THINGS GOD PUT ON THIS EARTH. other than chocolate

I have about 3 chick mates ( I wouldn't call them close) but the rest of my mates are older guys. I grew up with older guy mates into there cars and I guess I pictured them as role models (even though now i think about it and there just slobs). I find it easier to get along with guys than girls. My chick mates are good for helping me with guy problems but my guy mates give me advice as well. They are kind of like chick mates in a way ( they actually come shopping with me!!)
