zex nitrous kit

I have a b16a in my civic coupe, and I was planning on getting a nitrous kit. But I'm kinda of afraid of what it will do if I miss shift. I was wondering if the zex kit had something that wouldn't let that happen. thanks for ur help

Re: zex nitrous kit

uhhmmmmm yes and no, the zex kit has a WOT switch and usually when u shift u lift ur foot off WOT so there for it wont spray when ur shifting, unless u got ur foot mashed throughout ur shift, in which case dont miss

Re: zex nitrous kit

I have accidentally missed a shift and hit limiter while spraying with my zex kit I immediately took her home checked her out and everything was ok. I geuss I got off the gas just quick enough.

Just be extra careful when your shifting if you have that much of a fear.

Im not sure on their B series cam's but I know the single cam crowd generally likes their SOHC cams. Do some searching on google and other sites even honda-tech.com and you should find some good info on the zex cams.

I do not shift while holding dow the throttle cuz I know its hard on the tranny just afraid of messing something up if I miss a gear and it hits the rev limit. I have been trying to looking into their cams and some people say they r good and their prices r very cheap. But, I have heard that they were shit from Richochet on another thread. I know he has been around here for a while so I know that he knows what he is talking about. So, I was just trying to get a little more info but I will still keep looking around. Thanks for ur help

First off, make sure you get a wet kit. Some people say that dry is fine and your stock fuel system will take care of enriching the mixture. But why risk anything? Let the nitrous system take care of it.

As to your concern about misshifting. Spraying nitrous against the rev limiter is bad news. Your ecu will cut fuel but you'll continue to spray nitrous. This will lead to a lean condition and should give you a series of hard detentions at a very high rpm. There are several options open to correct this.
You could get a MSD ignition/Hondata with rev limiter. This will allow you to set an rpm in which you'll stop producing spark. Set it the same or 100 rpms before your stock rev limiter.
Or you could get a nitrous control unit. I believe NX makes one. This'll allow you to set what rpms you want the system to engage and disengage. So set the system to disengage at the limiter and you don't have to worry. This will also allow you to change activation point depending on what gear your in. So you can set the system to activate at 5000 rpms in 1st so you'll have time to gain traction.

well I was thinking about getting the dry kit, I already have a aem fule filter. Not sure how much more it flows than stock. But I was also going to buy the zex inline fuel pump as well just for safety sake. Cuz I have the b16 in a 94 coupe with the stock ex fuel pump and I'm not to sure if it will be able to supply the fuel for the nitrous
