99 Wrangler grinding noise when you let off gas pedal
There is a loud grinding noise in my 99 Wrangler when i take my foot off the gas pedal at most speeds. Any ideas? Mine is a 4.0 6 cylinder with an automatic tranny and 4x4. Thanks

Re: 99 Wrangler grinding noise when you let off gas pedal
First thing I think of here is the transfer case chain. If it has stretched, (worn) it may rub on the inside of the case.
Check the fluid level in the transfer case and drain it to check for metal. It probably could use a change anyway. Check your owners manual, but I believe it takes ATF - not even 2 qts. Merry Christmas!!!!! JD |

Thanks JD. I will check it out Monday. My wrangler has only 60K on it but it has been sitting for a while. Barely put on 8K in the last 2 years.
