bose system in car?

Has any body heard of some one installing bose cube speakers in thier car? I heard a pair of these the other day and they are awesome speakers. There only like 4x4 inches but sound like a huge system.

Re: bose system in car?

don't even try. they are crap compared to decent speakers in car.

in homes, they sound much different because of the environment.

those bose speakers you see that sells for $1000+ and such are actually about $10 for the drivers. hehe. marketing is powerful with bose.

the ones from the acoustimass ... we used to call them acoustitrash. Honestly, I could take a good set of drivers (mids & tweets) and make a FAR better system using about the same size little enclosures. There is an old saying ....... no highs, no lows, must be bose

Re: bose system in car?

bose sucks. i've had it in both of my maxima's and both headunits have problems. my old one, the cd player stopped working altogether and just said CD ERR all the time. in my new maxima, the left speaker channel has a bad solder from the factory and is prone to becoming disconnected leaving you with only the speakers on the passenger side of the car working. it happened to me and i had it fixed for $250, plus i didn't have my stereo for 5 WEEKS. believe it or not, the stereo is actually starting to give me the same problem again.
If you can get over that, then i think the sound is decent. However, Bose stereo's are different from a regular stereo in that there is an individual amplifier at each speaker instead of just one in the head unit. to hook up components that aren't bose requires a line output convertor and is all in all a big pain in the ass to work with. If you want the speakers you'll have to change the head unit, and then if you decide you want subs or a cd changer or something, you'll have to wire in a line output convertor to each component. i learned my lesson i'm never getting bose again.

Re: bose system in car?

clarion makes them, but if you get a bose stereo, you get a clarion head unit.
