1/8th mile vs 0-60 times
I started to post in the "what would this talon run" thread, and at the end realized that it no longer had anything to do with the original question
So here is the meat of it, since there is still some interesting info...The track only gives you your 60 foot time, not 0-60mph time. But there are calcs out that will come up with an estimate based on your 60 foot time and your eighth mile time. They seem pretty accurate, but when you get into real fast cars they spit out some really low 0-60 times. Hard to know if they are still accurate at that level. http://www.wallaceracing.com/0-60_equation.php Here is one that uses 1/8th mile times. Too bad I can't remember what a stock DSM runs in the half track. But for shits and grins I tossed my numbers in. 7.480 at 97.75, from the slip posted on my site. Calc says 2.82 seconds. That seems awefully fast. Looking at my 11.3 second log, which is also posted on my site for anyone to view, my 0-60 is measured at 3.4 seconds. So it's just like I thought, the calcs read too low with fast cars. In that log you can see the wheelspin in first, looking at the speed trace, and that was a lousy high 1.7 second 60 foot. For anyone insterested (or board) that wants to try it, at www.dsmlink.com, in the download section, you can download the software. Then save the log from my site, or any logs I or anyone else post, to the runs folder in the DSMlink folder. Then you can open it up and see what we are talking about, play with the values, check out what we can adjust etc. Its a much older version, but most of the functionality is there. Oh yeah, and punching John Shepperds latest timeslip into that calc gives a 0-60 time of 1.31 seconds

Re: 1/8th mile vs 0-60 times
I have read that if you take the 1/8th time and multiply it by 1.55 if will give you a good estimate of the quarter mile time. Maybe Kevin can confirm how accurate or not that is.

Re: 1/8th mile vs 0-60 times
Almost works in my case. Any time of math here is still just an estimate though. But its good enough for ballpark numbers. Your ET has pretty much already been determined by the 1/8th however, so it should be fairly repeatable. Any trouble in the back end really affects MPH, but has very small effect on ET. And vice versa. You can hose the launch and still mph ok, but ET will be poor. You can look for other people that have run your 1/8th time on www.dsmtimes.org and see what thier quarter time is as well, that should be a decent indicator. Actually I bet we could compile a bunch of the data on that site and come up with a reasonable conversion factor....
