Out of my realm but am asking for help on behalf of someon else.
A girl I work with has an 03 jetta,
She has an intermittent problem where it wont shift out of park. I know there is a sensor for the brake and all of that good stuff. She has been in and out of the dealer and they say they couldnt get it to happen. I know her car has a sealed tranny. I am not sure if it is an electronic problem or a tarnsmission problem. Reading what i have read so far in this forum transmission problems seem pretty common in Jettas. I referred her to this site but she didnt go to it. I just like to get the opinion of alot of people not just one mechanic at a dealership. I think they should replace her transmission since it is under warranty but they dont seem to want to help her at all has anyone had a similar problem or does anyone have a clue what may be causing this problem????? I am jsut trying to help out a friend hopefully someone in this forum can help me...

It's usuallyy just the solenoid or lock pin sticking at the shifter.

Re: Out of my realm but am asking for help on behalf of someon else.
Solenoid lock pin and brake light switch have been checked and or replaced.
She took it to the dealer again and was finally able to show them the problem. I agree about the tranny. If it is shifting fine and not slippin gears it has to be something electronic or somehting connected to the transmission. Just want to say that i appreciate the help given so far in this forum. Hopefully she will get it fixed eventuallty.
