Just bought a 2000 Lincoln LS V8 Sport. Have some questions?

Ok, I love the car so far. It handles great rides smooth and I love the look. The sound system is nice too. However today a yellow light came on to the left of the spedometer. Is this the service engine light?

Thanks
Erik

The service engine light looks like an engine, well a cutout of one anyways.

Engine light is red. THe yellow light was most likely the traction control light. Did it look like a tire throwing stones or mud? If so, it was just indicating that the system was operating normally in a reduced traction environment. Where are you located? Snowy/sandy, perhaps?

It's the yellow light by the RPM gauge that is shaped kind of like an engine. It comes on and off. ANd yes were I live is snowy and sandy. The traction control light hasn't came on since. I love these Lincolns, they ride smooth and the handling is awesome.

Thanks

The CEL light on the 2000 Lincoln LS V-8 is NOT red, it is yellow and will blink above 60 MPH if you have a misfire, and stay steady below 60 for any failure. This is caused primarily by a faulty coil. Get on ebay and buy yourtself a OBDII meter for under $15 bucks, and then identify the problem. Again, Ebay has the coils for $15 bucks, vice $50 from Autiozone.

Did this all myself, my wife and son helped. Hard to do, not impossible, more of a learning curve.

The check engine light is most certainly not red! It's the yellow light the OP is talking about.

The low/no oil pressure light is red. The parking brake and low brake fluid level light is also red.
