Bubbling noise.
I've noticed that my crapmaro is making a bubbling noise when I shut off the engine. Bubbles go into the radiator overflow tank. SLOW bubble, not a boil. The water temp gauge never goes over 180, and the radiator is never so hot that you can't keep your hand on it for 5-10 seconds. The Radiator also is NEVER full. I fill it up, drive it, and check it, and about 1/4 coolant gone. Assume it leaked out someplace????
What the hell is going on? It's an after market rad. & has an electric fan. Could this be related to my oil problem? (Posted under "Should I shoot myself now" to avoid reposting it here). Thanks |

Re: Bubbling noise.
check all your hoses then check around the gasket at the thermostat and see if there any coolant if so change the gasket and you might want to make sure all the clamps are tight around the end of the hoses or that will let fluid out after u find your leak u can drain the air out by taking off the radiator cap and raising the rpms just a lil till the fluid raises to the filler neck then put the cap back on.

Bubbles in the radiator is a usually the first indicator of a blown head gasket.

Re: Bubbling noise.
OK. Soooo.. COULD a blown head gasket also be responsible for the engine burning oil????

Unfortunately Camaros aren't a womans car. You gotta take care of it. It's not a f-ing Saturn, drive it whenever, wherever and abuse it. It's a very complicated piece of equipment that needs attention.
But, if it weren't for people like you, mechanics wouldn't have food on their table. |

Re: Bubbling noise.
I'm not sure if thats a compliment for supporting a local establishment or an insult for being an engine neophite. Now that I've sworn to do everything myself, you're making me feel bad about not helping the mechanic put food on his table.... no wait... He didn't use me to prepare his tax return or financial statements... screw him.

It was #8 cylinder. #8 is always a problem on SBC, or at least usually the first one to develop a problem. |
