98 Limited: air suspension bag leak
1998 Windstar Limited (with factory electronic air suspension), 115K miles, rear end sags on both sides after engine off for many hours.
Air suspension compressor comes on when car starts, and pump stays on for 2-3 minutes until bags are filled. Warning light does not stay on. My mechanic used soapy water and found a leak in the left air spring bag. Ford dealers tell me you can't CONVERT a Limited to coil springs, but that the bags MUST be replaced. 1) Is this so? If a non-Limited Windstar has coils, why can't the Limited be converted? 2) Can the air spring bag be patched instead of replaced? 3) Where would you go to buy replacement bags, or coil springs? Thank you.
