I have a 1996 F-350 4x4 with a powerstroke engine and a np 4500 5 speed tranny. It has 210,000 miles on it. I have had very little trouble with it. On monday Dec. 20th It started right up but after about 2 secounds of running it started to miss fire and would not run on all 8 cylinders. throttle response was really slow and of course it was knocking like hell. The day before it ran perfectly. Now I find out that
Ford did not make this model year with the powerstroke non OBD II compliant. So I can't down load the codes. Help..... does anyone have any ideas????? |

Re: 1996 F-350 powerstroke
Sorry man, I would start by checking the wiring harnesses that go throught the valve cover gaskets. They sometimes melt and short out, other than that, you probably have a bad injector. You'll probably end up paying the $60 bucks to have it scanned. Replacing the injectors is relatively easy, finding the bad one is the tricky part with a normal scan tool. Only get reman injectors from ford, they are around $300. E-mail me with any more questions, I've replaced at least 2 dozen of these babies
