i need help to figure something out

ok.. here is my problem.. im going to get a 5spd tranny tomorrow.. and i was wondering wat do i have to get to swap out the auto tranny to a 5sp.. what parts do i need?? like driveshaft, pedals, and etc...

Does the driveshaft for the auto fit in a manual tranny or do you have to get a new one...

PLEASE HELP....

i dont know everything u will need but u need a manual ECU a driveshaft the pedals um shift knob a boot if u want it to look ok , shift lever, i dont know what else but im sure someone else in here can help out

well this depends on how you are obtaining your 5 spd...

A) just buying a used unit by itself from some seller

B) going to a junkyard where theres a 240sx and removing it

or

C) know the car its comming from, like a buddy's wrecked 240 or etc....

Here is what you do according to each situation

nice parts list, a little more then I thought but you would still be taking all of those parts off anyhow, flywheel bolts shouldn't be too expensive, and a few of those parts on that list are usually included in a clutch kit, thats a pretty nice write-up but I understand that kind fo stuff pretty easily. EXCEPT I would drain the fluid on the automatic first.. especially before removing the driveshaft... you've been warned if you have a lot of transmission fluid in there it can and will come out, somewhere in the neighorhood of a gallon on some transmissions if it hasn't been drained before, so either drain it first of stick something to catch the fluid from the output shaft area of the tailhousing cause a gallon of atf spilled on the ground looks bigger then you'd think LMAO I speak from experience



B) take everything associated with the clutch system, from clutch master cylinder, clutch lines, slave cylinder, driveshaft, pedals, ecu, and I even think the auto center console is different but it might work. Most of the other stuff should already be on the transmission, unless you got unlucky and the shifter or sensors were not included. Of course I would recromend buying a new flywheel and clutch of atleast OEM quality, if not all the other clutch hydraulic system parts mentioned above(C.M.C. , S.C)

C) see if you can buy the salvaged vehicle there-by making B. an easier process.... as well as the installation if your doing it yourself since you putting it together would only require remebering how you took the parts off earlier that day on the other car. plus you can always pick up some spares
