code 1350 or1450 translate please

Runs fine . Went to auto zone, had checked,it was 1350 or 1450,I think 1450,to do w/emissions.The parts seller said any time they get a 1300 or 1400 code it had to go back to the dealer.
Any ideas?

Just to clarify the Dealer return comment.

As far as I am aware any codes that begin with P0... are generic codes across all manufactureres of any OBD11 compliant vehicle. The P1... are manufacturer specific.

This may be why they made that statement.

Do you have a locking gas cap?
If so, try a "non-locking" gas cap as the locking type almost always fail emissions testing (and can cause a CEL)
Also, check to see that your gas cap seals correctly.

about the gas cap thing?? are you supposed to hear a hiss when you remove the cap? kind of like relieving pressure in the tank. My van never makes that sound. I know the fuel system is pressurized. is it right??

Re: code 1350 or1450 translate please

It depends on the conditions, but YES, your cap needs to be able to maintain a certain amount of pressure. I know that, for emission testing in Wisconsin, that they check to see if your gas cap and fuel tank will hold pressure.
This is how I know that locking gas caps almost always fail.

I would guess that the cheapest way to see if it is your gas cap, would be to replace it.

Or, if you can have it checked at a garage for free?

These would be an idea for a cheap and likely cause of your problem.

My owner's manual clearly states that the CEL can come on due to a loose or improperly seated gas cap.
