No Reverse Lights

My 1994 Dodge Caravan's reverse lights stopped working. I've tried replacing the bulbs and then the relay, but still the lights don't turn on when the vehicle is in reverse. Anyone with advice to share, please?

Re: No Reverse Lights

Check your neutral safety switch (assuming - auto trans) on the transmission. It senses gear selections.

Re: No Reverse Lights

Thank you, you're a gentleman. I'll check the neutral safety switch. If that switch is indeed faulty, would it be causing other problems I could check for, as well?

Re: No Reverse Lights

The switch controls starting the car in park or neutral as well as activating the backup lights.

Re: No Reverse Lights

Then I guess the switch is broken for the backup lights without being broken for starting the car. Thanks again. You've been very helpful.
