average prices of SR20DET......
ok first of i'm 99% sure this has been posted a lot of times, so dont get all pissy. Now time in narrowing down for me in feb. i plan to have a 240 and take a loan and do a SR20DET swap, so i figured i'll post something.
I was wondering how much you have found the full complete swap for and where from, it will be helpful (looking for the s13 blacktop or maybe an s14 redtop and blacktop) dont worry about the s15 i definantly dont have any money for that one! |

Re: average prices of SR20DET......
18 to 25 us i guess.
i can get semi-complete kits under 16... but those are just that, semi-complete. Within the first price range, you can get somewhere between what you think is complete and the full clip. I've sold full half clips in that price range in the past. *180sx half-clip doesn't llok like silvia front end. It is almost exactly like our us/canadian 240sx S13. |

Re: average prices of SR20DET......
I highly recommend getting a clip. I got a redtop for around $2200 but you end up spending another $87857832302573 on stupid little parts you dont get with just the motorset. Get a clip so you have all the little hoses and bolts and doohickies and gadgetrons that you will need.

Re: average prices of SR20DET......
I like KAs better but anyway if you want to do an SR swap I can't stop you. There are many sites if you search on yahoo that supply silvia clips. This way you can also use the fenders, bumper, lights, and hood as well. With the clips, you will have EVERYTHING that you need. Check out my sig.

Re: average prices of SR20DET......
but in my own opinion with less reliabity...if you were to build the ka to sr reliabilty you would be spending money also...in the end the price comes out to about the same...granted though the ka will probably have more power though...but still less reliable...but thats what i think...so jdm guy how much could you get a black top s13 for...not looking for turbo and all that non sence, really just looking for a long block (i.e. no turbo, tranny ect)

Re: average prices of SR20DET......
I don't know about you or anything but the KA has more reliability when you rebuilding it because that is a must for turboing. No matter what you say, it will be cheaper for anyone to be working on a KA and have the same reliabilty in the end.

there is a guy here who i know drives a 240 with the redtop swap, and he never had to many problems with having to buy extra parts. But that doesnt matter much because i know of a couple people who will have extra parts from doing these swaps.

Re: average prices of SR20DET......
well u should get a front clip make sure they include everything needed for the swap but if u buy a clip that will be no problem and usually you get what u pay for dont buy one of those "complete kits" that sells for 1600 cause u will have problems

it would not surprise me with a percentage of them, but Japan is pretty strict on there swaps every so many miles, kinda like a timeline for motor, very stange buy hey at least we get motors under 50,000miles which is pretty much brandnew, just the downpart they have been sitting there for years and years.
