Firstly- A 1972 Mitsubishi Galant?(I don't mean to sound naive) Secondly, I don't understand when you say 'paddock bomb'. If the exhaust is broken on the manifold, you can either A. Weld it back together, or B. Replace it. Availability and cost would be my determining factors for which route I would take.

we call em paddock bombs in aus, its just means, an old car, which teenagers for example would drive (on their property) as they cannot drive on the road.

whats the consequence of taking it off completely and not putting back on?

Re: Old 1972 Galant

suggestion,
If the exhaust is broken after the pipes reach under the car replace the exhaust with PVC pipe and angle it straight out the side. Or if ya handy with welding weld a big pipe on to the extracter part and angle it straight out of the side.

Re: Old 1972 Galant

If it's in the extractor area, don't drive it for too long at a time, coz it will overheat quick as.
no worries

The fumes created when PVC burns are highly toxic. Not to mention that it would melt even if it did not burn.

Re: Old 1972 Galant

Really. My tail pipe is hot enough to discolor the stainless tip. I would still be apprehensive due to the fumes. Besides exhaust pipe is cheap.
