Another Clicking Start Question... Have new battery
I'm having the same delay / clicking start with my 2001 (manual trany) that many seem to have. I repaced the battery hoping that would solve the problem. The connections didn't seem to be corroded at all (I twisted them back and forth a bit as I put them on, but I didn't polish them up first). I have double checked to make sure everything is tight.
I'm thinking that the solenoid might be acting up or the CPP switch is sending a weak or intermittent signal. According to the service manual the solenoid is mounted right to the starter and includes a mechnism to engage the drive pinion to the flywheel. It looks like a pain to remove and expensive to replace (not as simple and cheap as on my older domestics). What would be the best plan of attack to diagnose this? Is there anything else I may be overlooking? Thanks |

Re: Another Clicking Start Question... Have new battery
Sorry I have no answer to your problem, but that gave me an idea....Several have a digital camera and we post of mail or exchange pictures, but in the case you have, we would be more informed with sound rather than picture...and several digital cameras...mine too, in fact, can record sound streams....so just as an example, here is my Sportage starting
www.geocities.com/lmp4203/Snd_2403.wav It just happens that I had not thought of using this feature for that purpose before.....may be we could exploit that in the future???? Ehhh maybe I'm reinventing the wheel, so let me know....too... |
