Question Jetta 95 coolant replacement

I hope that someone can help me.

I have flushed the coolant out of the car (95 Jetta 2.0L manual with a/c) and I think that all of it is out. When I tried to replanish it it would fit less then a liter (1L). I would run the engine with the heat full blast and the coolant wouldn't move. I have ran the engine until it came to 230F but the fan never came on. It would just build up the pressure in the hoses.

please help !!!

(system worked without problems before)

Re: Jetta 95 coolant replacement

You have got a large pocket of air at the top of the engine. There is a bleed hose for this on VW's usually it is a small hose and goes back to the coolant resevoire. If this hose is plugged or if there is a blockage where it goes into the cyl head it leaves you with a big pocket of air on top of the coolant in your engine and it wont circulate out.
